We’re Level 8 Games, a two-person indie studio built on decades of gaming, late-night theorycrafting, and an unreasonable amount of caffeine. Founded by Meredith (artist/designer/UX gremlin) and Ian (code wizard/world logic enforcer), we’ve been gaming together since 2007 and making games together since long before we admitted that’s what we were actually doing.

We build the kinds of games we want to play—cozy, weird, a little nostalgic, and full of heart. Whether it’s pixel RPGs with emotional gut-punches or tycoons with pastel mushrooms and flying brooms, everything we make is a love letter to the games that shaped us.

No big team, no fancy funding—just two nerds doing what we love. Welcome to Level 8.

Meredith – Co-Founder, Art & Design Lead

Meredith is a multidisciplinary artist and game designer based in New Zealand. With a background in UX/UI and visual design, she leads the artistic direction of Level 8 Games — bringing worlds to life through rich environments, expressive characters, and intuitive interfaces. Her work is deeply influenced by fine art, film, literature and a lifelong obsession with games that let players build a home. From cozy pixel towns to eerie haunted landscapes, Meredith’s designs are all about storytelling through atmosphere. When not working on games, she’s likely experimenting with mixed media, watching something obscure, or cross-stitching something snarky.

Favorite games: EverQuest II, Rift, anything with deep housing systems (and yes, she’s counting the days until WoW’s new housing update drops).

Ian – Co-Founder, Technical Director

Ian is a lifelong gamer and seasoned developer from Essex, UK. A longtime C# programmer with a passion for clean code, systems design, and gameplay feel, he handles all things technical at Level 8 Games — from combat mechanics and procedural generation to back-end systems and dev tools. Ian brings structure and momentum to the team, with a sharp eye for detail and a healthy disregard for wasted time. When he’s not working on game logic, he’s probably deep in Borderlands or Diablo, tweaking his build or killing all the things.

Favorite games: Borderlands series, Diablo franchise, anything with satisfying progression and mayhem.
